Wheels on the Bus (Go Round and Round) (2020)
Pen ink and acrylic on paper, framed
A1 (59.4 × 84.1 cm)
This work forms part of a limited-edition colour series that explores the themes of Little Boy Hiding in the Big, Bad World through a more traditional format. Incorporating London’s iconic double-decker buses into the familiar cityscapes that appear throughout the wider body of work, the drawing references children’s rhymes, Boris Johnson’s hobby of painting buses, and the Brexit campaign bus. By reimagining the popular children’s story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt as We’re Going on a Home Hunt, the work highlights the contrast between the values we teach children and the realities faced by those searching for safety, belonging, and a place to call home.
